Market Bag

I am an huge fan of CrochetCrowd (Mikey) and the way he explains in his videos.  I have made this market bag using his videos.

I normally quite apt at reading patterns and working but this market bag pattern was slightly unclear.  If reading this pattern was my only choice then I would not have made this bag.  It was his video which was explained in such simplicity that I was able to complete mine.

I have used cotton threads size 10.

The written pattern can is available on red heart site - http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/lacy-crochet-market-bag

The video can be found on www.thecrochetcrowd.com. Look under the video tutorials.

Happy Hooking!

Monster Hats

Its been a long time since I have posted anything.  I have been creating pieces  but didn't get around posting this.

Recently I had received requests to do monster hats for an office Halloween Party.  When I delivered the same, the first reaction was ..."they are not the same!!"

Of course they were not.  The images they sent were from a site where the designer was selling the same pattern.  I simply could not copy those.  Hence I had done  my versions.  I did offer them the choice of not buying the same from me.  They were too cute to refuse :)

I have used basic beanie pattern and added the embellishments / appliques

Basket Weave Container Challenge

Mission: is to crochet a custom made basket weave container that is decorated with a minimum of 3 crochet motifs attached to the container. (www.crochetchallenges.com)

Pattern: http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/its-hoot-owl-container

What I was attempting was a garden theme, though sizing of the appliques was a bit haywire

This one a real challenge. The basket itself did not take much time at all. It was the theme building exercise which took soooo long, all the planning colors oh my!

What do you think?

I finally did create one check it out - Crochet Collectibles.  Though I will still continue to use the other one to showcase my work along with any Jewelry I might still make.

Go view and let give me your feedback!

Treasure for life!

This was one of my first projects when I learnt crochet.  Special thanks to my aunt, who kept pushing me to complete and to have patience to complete this project.  Using size 20  cotton crochet thread, this took about 15-18 months of work.  Finally gifted this treasure to my sister for her wedding!

Purple passion Afghan

Finally worked with full set of yarn!  I have always worked with fine threads which take quite a while to complete but turn out absolutely gorgeous and elegant.  This time I decided to work with Yarn.  Specially because my son was nagging me to make something for him.  Now there is a huge ongoing fight on who gets these.  May daughter trying to convince him that these are girl colors and my son saying that its ok he loves the colors in any case.  Lets see who gets this one!

Tissue Box Covers - frills and all

After doing couple of simple ones ...now I really wanted to add some sort of spice to these boxes.  Plain ones were OK for day to day use.  I was thinking more on terms of the having them in my car or even my office table!  Just to add a little contrasting color.

I also had few pieces of leftover scarf yarns..here is the result

Tissue Box Covers - simple ones

I had to split the tissue box covers in 3 categories.  The simple ones...simply to add color to those lifeless boxes.

With so many left over single ball of yarns I was experimenting on making something which would use these left overs

Here are the simple ones.

They fit  150 ply tissue box.

Valentine Hearts

Ok.. this one took ages to finish considering that it looks small and very easy.

In Jan I started making this filet pattern.  Pattern was quite easy to make.  I used acrylic metallic thread size 10.  It just took forever to complete but the final result was worth it!

Pattern for this is available at bottom of the page.

The pattern shows half of scarf.  The other half needs be followed from reverse to get the effect.  Work on rows 1 - 70 and then backwards 70 to 1

Beanie Hats for Men!

Seeing me crocheting most of the time or buying yarn which was actually not required, said my husband one day "Why cant you do something useful and make some hats for me".  He is bald (by choice) and constantly needs to wear one as he travels by metro.

His birthday was coming up this week and I decided to order some yarn to do just this.  Of course all I needed was an excuse to buy more yarn!

Last Project for 2013

This tiny little slip on key ring was my last project in year 2013!

It was such a pleasure working on this project.  I am still working on getting shapes and sizes correct for slip ons so this was an achievement.

New year, new beginnings and new styles!

Happy New Year to everyone!

A new year with new beginnings.  Of course all I want is just more threads and yarn!  I did buy a whole new lot with all the colours I could find while on my vacation in India.  Will be posting the pic shortly.
