Silk Threads

Its been a while since I have been working with Embroidery floss.  I recently received huge stock of silk embroidery threads.

Of course I was thrilled to bits to see so many vibrant colors.

Alas my excitement was very short lived!

It was an experience to work with silk threads - constantly slipping out of my fingers.  Had to join lots of them to get a single earring!  What do you think of the outcome?

Ruffled Scarves

I have been following The Crochet Crowd through their newsletters and their you tube videos.  I had seen so many of these lacey yarns and was too eager to work on them.  Finally came across The Crochet Crowd you tube video which explained how to use the crochet hook with these laces

This was all I needed to get started and I could not help buying all those yarns and laces..

Coffee Table Topper

Add some vintage elegance to dazzle up your living room! This is a crocheted coffee table topper 17 x 12 inches, made with cotton threads and 3D flowers.

Although this was fairly easy project to do, the process was very tedious to build small pieces and  join them together.  Once it was done it still didn't sit well.  I spent more time in trying to use stiffener to stiffen piece by piece including the flowers.  I think I almost took same time to fix the shape as much as on crocheting this piece!

I have placed this on different backgrounds to see the effects.  Which one do you think is better?

Checkered Stole

I had been looking at this mini square pattern for quite sometime.  I finally decided to go for making this stole.  Deciding on the length took time.  Finally decided to go for the 70 inches as I read that this is the most common length. I am totally inspired and deciding on a next pattern!

Pink for October

I had recently received a request for crocheted breast cancer ribbons.  When I thought about it, it sounded very easy.  So I am thinking, good idea and easily done.

Ofcourse I was right about the good idea but so wrong about the easy part.  Crocheting the ribbon itself was very easy. Stitched is too with little bit of struggle.  Now for the last part - using the stiffener.  I normally dilute the stiffener a lot but this time I had to use almost undiluted to  get the right stiffness and then do blocking to get the right shape.

But efforts well spent!

Used red and pink shaded embroidery floss

Used Egyptian Cotton Thread
Used combination of light pink and dark pink threads

Used embroidery floss for this one

Place Mats

I have so much stash leftover from previous incomplete projects, that as soon  as I have an idea, I  need to work on it.  So I keep digging to see what comes out!  These are place mats made of viscose thread.  I am sure its been lying around for years and years..finally it comes useful.

Midnight Star..when doing this I was contemplating should I leave it as place mat or join all of them as runner.  As you see I left it as a place mat.

At times I wanted to keep a vase or a bowl on a ruffled piece instead of just a flat piece...these are my ruffles :)

Earrings and Color!!

Working on longer pieces which means it seems like it is simply not getting over fast enough.  This weekend I started on smaller projects.  Check these earrings and their colors!

Personally I love wearing 'dangles'!!  Using thread I can make I as big or tall I need without the weight!

How many times have you seen the yellow.. simply could not resist using this color.  What do you think of this one?

No words to express this one...

My all time favorite color

I have to find a way to take another picture of this one..this picture does not do justice to this piece

Its my blue again

Dainty pinks!
