I had this on my mind for more than a year on my mind.  Doing a crochet photo quilt.
I finally found a reason to do this.

50th wedding anniversary gift.   I has started with lots of time being spent with paper and pencil and erasers!

Personalised pouch. Every time I start to work on something my daughter asks if this is for her?

I have been wanting to work on personalised pouch for quite some time and finally decided to get around it.

Now I have jumping 12 year old who is impatiently waiting for her school to start.

Largest Crochet Blanket

A moment in history and very proud to be part in making this history -

The all-woman team made a blanket the size of a soccer-pitch

It took over two thousand women, six months and lots of yarn to break the Guinness World Record for largest crochet blanket on Sunday 31st January in the city of Chennai, India.

The efforts of the all-female group of crocheting enthusiasts— known as Mother’s India’s Crochet Queens— payed off on Jan. 31, when they broke South Africa’s record. Their finished product was a 120 thousand square-foot blanket, around the size of a soccer pitch.

Participants from Chennai, many states within India and also 13 other countries contributed to the making of the one crochet blanket.


The blanket was disassembled and sections donated to needy Indian families.

Recently I had received a request from someone to do a baby shower / announcement.  I kept looking, experimenting and finally found what I liked.  These can be used as Wedding / Party flavors, baby shower / announcements.  Or simply a key ring.

Crochet Baby Blanket for World Record

A group of highly enthusiastic Indian women under the able guidance of Ms. Subashri Natarajan an MBA and an avid crocheter since the age of 10, have taken upon themselves the task of crocheting 5000 blankets measuring upto a total of 5000 square meters with the aim of setting a new world record and making a name for themselves in the Guinness World Records.

The current record set by South Africa in April 2015 stands at 3377square meters and Subashri and her team hope to break this record.

The Group "Mother India's Crochet Queens" set up in August 2015, by Subashri comprises of nearly a 1000 Indian women from all parts of the world all aged between 8 years to 85 years, all sharing the same passion for crochet.

Candle Holders

I simply loved making these holders, experimenting with cotton threads, cords etc.  I found cotton threads to be the best.  It did involve lots of, had to stiffen the project, dry it and then stick on the crystals.

I did turn out to be quite cool.  I have written partial pattern for teal candle holder.  I say partial as the skirt of teal holder is from another blog.  Holder base is a handwritten drawing. Over here I have to say that I have no experience in writing patterns!

Flair Vest

It's been a long time..but I am back to blogging.   It was always running in my mind but just time crunch.

As I give away or sell most of my stuff, this is the first apparel I have done for my self - actually took time to do something for self

Thus flair vest pattern has been taken from Crochet Magazine.

I have used baby yarn which is 60% cotton and 40% acrylic.  18 inches in length.

The color choice is more of what I had in my stash :)

Scarppy Wall Art

I was following this Bernat pattern to start making baby blanket "From the Middle Baby Blanket".

Of course I did not have this bernat yarn, and I was determined to do this.  I used up all the scarp / left over yarns I had.  It is an absolute beauty!

Still thinking what to use is as - baby blanket? Floor Mat or Wall Art (My Favorite)

Reflective Yarn Beanie Hat

My Last Project in 2014

I know.. I am so late in updating the blog.  If I look back I really have no valid reason not to update considering I have done quite a bit so far!

Here is the last project I did.  The special part of this one is that it is made of reflective yarn where in the yarn itself reflects light when flash is on!

This is made with red heart reflective yarn and uses basic beanie hat pattern

Market Bag

I am an huge fan of CrochetCrowd (Mikey) and the way he explains in his videos.  I have made this market bag using his videos.

I normally quite apt at reading patterns and working but this market bag pattern was slightly unclear.  If reading this pattern was my only choice then I would not have made this bag.  It was his video which was explained in such simplicity that I was able to complete mine. 

I have used cotton threads size 10.

Monster Hats

Its been a long time since I have posted anything.  I have been creating pieces  but didn't get around posting this.

Recently I had received requests to do monster hats for an office Halloween Party.  When I delivered the same, the first reaction was ..."they are not the same!!"

Of course they were not.  The images they sent were from a site where the designer was selling the same pattern.  I simply could not copy those.  Hence I had done  my versions.  I did offer them the choice of not buying the same from me.  They were too cute to refuse :)

I have used basic beanie pattern and added the embellishments / appliques

Basket Weave Container Challenge

This one a real challenge. The basket itself did not take much time at all. It was the theme building exercise which took soooo long, all the planning colors oh my!

The final look - Stitchcation

I am back. I have been away from quite sometime now.  Away only from the computer though I have completed loads of projects.

I did mention Stitch-cation Afghan Challenge last time.  Here is the outcome :)

I have always kept debating (with myself of course) whether I should create a separate FB page for My Crochet or continue with RA Dazzle which my friend and me started.

Quilt and Stitch Art Show 2014 - Results

YES!  I did it once again - 2nd year in a row -  First prize in Knitting / Crochet Category.  Every year from last 4 years, Craft Land has been organizing this show.  I have been part of quite a few shows, but they way they do it, its brilliant!  So well organized and flawless.  The efforts they put in displaying the same is amazing.
